Immanuel Hmong Lutheran Church began in 1992, when Pastor Ger Yang gathered fifteen Hmong families to form a congregation rooted in God’s Word and united in Christian fellowship. In December 1995, during his third missionary trip to Thailand, Pastor Ger was called home to heaven. His passing deeply affected the young congregation, and many families dispersed in the months that followed. Only a small group remained—Pastor Ger’s children, several widows, and a few committed young men, including Pheng Moua.
Yet even in this season of loss, the grace of God was powerfully at work. On October 16, 1996, Pheng Moua was ordained and called to serve Immanuel Hmong Lutheran Church. Through the Lord’s guidance, the congregation slowly rebuilt, strengthened by His promises and sustained by His mercy. What began as a small remnant has, by God’s grace alone, grown into a vibrant church of more than forty families and over 220 souls. Today, Immanuel Hmong Lutheran Church continues its mission with gratitude, humility, and confidence in the God who faithfully restores, provides, and leads His people forward.
